About the musicians:

Yichu Huang
Pipa player Yichu Huang recently graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Master of Music, where she studied under Dr Lu Liu. She is active in intercultural music collaborations and has performed alongside Indian, Persian, and jazz musicians. In 2024, she participated in the Bicentenary Concert Series at NSW Parliament and was a featured performer at the Sydney China Cultural Centre. She has also performed in the Chinese Garden of Friendship’s Sunday Sounds program. Yichu is currently undertaking a Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) at Western Sydney University and continues to share her passion for music through her work as a pipa teacher with the Chinese Music Ensemble at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Hazel Chow

Hazel is a first-year student studying a Diploma of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She plays the Chinese dulcimer (yangqin) and has been learning it for over 10 years. During high school, she had the opportunity to perform a solo at the Sydney Opera House. She enjoys exploring both traditional and modern pieces, and is always looking for new ways to express myself through music and connect with different audiences.
