LAMENT FOR MY SISTERS
Traditional Wai Tau lament translated by Rainbow Chan

Sisters, like flowers, are separated by the wind,

scattered like white jade orchids.

The flower head is broken, sorrow twists in the gut.

Five sprays of orchids, their order thrown into disarray.

May each year ripen without calamity.

Speaking of one’s fate, one goes as the current takes them.
